An evening to remember
Adam’s Gig
All proceeds to be given to the Adam Trowbridge Gift Trust.

Adam S. Trowbridge III Gift Trust

P.O. Box 291
Jackson, MS 39205
(if you don’t give were coming to your house to have the party)
The idea for the gig is simple: if you played with Adam or if Adam booked you and you have a tie to Ole Miss then you can gig. This criteria does not lend itself to the club scene of Oxford per say, but it will mean loads to Adams friends. My purpose is a total evening with Adam.
Live Music.
- Robert and Nick (1/2 Bean)
- Lee and Sam (No Beans, Just Greens)
- George and Bill (Two Beans)
- Free For All (Bean Salad)
We have arranged to block out 15 rooms at the Oxford Inn for Saturday 31 March only. They range from $85/night up to $129/night. First come First Served. Call Laine Dillingham at 1.800.606.1497 and mention “Adam’s Party” to get discounted rate. You must call by 16 March to ensure the room availability.
You never know what else you might hear. See you in Oxford.
Peace

Birmingham News: Sunday, January 28, 2007

He had two moods: Happy, asleep
Adam Trowbridge picked up the guitar at 9 and music played a part in his life from then on.
As a teenager, he and some buddies from school started the I-20 Band and practiced in the living room of his parents' home in Shreveport, La.
When he left to go to Ole Miss, Adam became the social chairman at his Sigma Chi fraternity, where the house band also was his band, Loose Talk.
In the mid-'80s, he also booked bands for the student programming committee, which brought such groups as REM, the Indigo Girls and the Fabulous Thunderbirds to campus.
One time, Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh dropped by the Sigma Chi house and he and Adam jammed together. Afterward, they went to Adam and his roommate's apartment and drank beer and played guitars into the morning.
Back then, Adam rode around in a big white Cadillac with Houston Oiler-blue interior, and his buddies would cringe and marvel at his ability to drive with his left leg folded in his lap while he played the guitar and steered with his knees.
It was in college that Adam had his first scare with cancer. He beat Hodgkin's disease, though, and after graduating, he moved to Birmingham in 1989.

True Friendship
I spent last weekend with the Trowbridge family. I can't explain how meaningful a time I had helping to care for Adam with Anne, Jim & Mr. and Mrs. Trowbridge. Adam was not able to fully engage in a consistent dialogue, however, we had numerous communications per hour that were focused and "in the present". We laughed and joked, prayed in times of pain, and lovingly passed the time. Dan Jordan spent the afternoon with us on Saturday. I was touched seeing Dan hold Adam's hand as we tried to find a comfortable position for Adam while seated on his bed and I was thrilled to see that Adam was conscious of his friend's presence. I made reference to a private joke from the college days and Adam smiled. His Mom never knew of our exchange and Adam later commented about it after his Mom had left the room. He could understand more than he could verbalize and didn't miss much of the discussion around him. I was keenly aware of the fact that Adam knew the presence of his friends and family, felt the love of those around him, and subtly communicated his appreciation. In short, it was a very sweet time in spite of the dire circumstance.
Later that evening, I watched Dan, teary eyed, kiss Adam on the head to say goodbye. It was shocking to realize that I needed to leave the room and let Dan have some privacy to share what might be his final conversation with Adam. While they were talking, I wiped my own tears in the living room. It's been a long year and still difficult to accept that we are at the end of this journey. I was able to kiss Adam on the head as I stood in front of him while he was seated on his bed, and tell him that I loved him and will forever miss him. He said "thanks" and gripped me tighter around the waist. I will cherish this memory forever.
This time spent with Adam reminded me of numerous blessings I received from our friendship. Adam taught me so much about music and the guitar. I better understand the instrument, even if I can't play one worth a damn, and have a much finer awareness and appreciation for talented musicians. I thought of him last night while Lilli and I saw Alejandro Escoveda perform a little magic with an acoustic. I plan to speak to him, say a prayer, or do something every time I get to hear some live acoustic guitar. I was also reminded of his kind spirit. He's a truly kind soul, much more kind than most of us. Even while the pain was great, Adam was sensitive to those around him. He wasn't one to wish evil thoughts. He had few, if any, enemies. He had a tremendous capacity to forgive. Adam was a really great Dad. We all love our children; but, Adam took the additional time with Marshall and Kennan to due the little things that make such a difference. This past year I gained an understanding of Adam's faith and that of his parents. His love for his little brother, Jim, is noteworthy. His personal strength has been remarkable. I have been truly blessed to have such a close relationship with Adam and the Trowbridge family.
I am also amazed at the peace I find with Adam's passing. Last Sunday while driving home to Baton Rouge, I realized that it was time. We all needed some time to share our love with Adam and we were blessed with nearly a year. His family is most appreciative of the care, support, and love that has been shared by his peers. Adam told his mother that he had chosen his friends well. Your behavior has confirmed for his family that Adam was correct about his assessment. Let us not lose touch in the coming years. Adam previously stated "maybe one of the roles for my life was to reconnect these friendships". I do not believe that our role is to bury Adam, go home, and allow time to bury our memory of him. Adam's funeral needs to be a great departure for a kind and great soul. I believe that our role for Adam continues into the future. I believe that I am better prepared teach my children about kindness and love. I believe when the day comes that I need the support of a few good friends; I will be in fine company. I love Adam and will miss him dearly.

Peace
According to his family, he'd had a very good day, was smiling and was not dragged down by the medication and constant pain. He said he felt like taking a nap and while sitting in a rocking chair, surrounded by his family, Adam passed away...with a smile on his face.
Tad, Joyce and Jim asked that we let everyone know that they wished to thank everyone for their love and support during this difficult year. I think that we owe them a debt of gratitude for providing us with a friend and brother that brightened our lives and brought more life than he took out.
There'll be plenty of time and opportunity to tell Trowbridge stories.
Right now, please continue to pray for the Trowbridge family as they grieve this loss and celebrate the life of Adam Trowbridge.
We will continue to post updates regarding the funeral arrangements on the blog and by email.
Thanks again for everyone for being there and for being an important part of this family and bond of brothers.

McCracken and Weathersby

The Jordan Standard

It seems that we not only learned by rote the Jordan Standard but we are living our lives according to its requirements.

A Man of Good Character.......
A Student of Fair Ability.........
With Ambitious Purposes.......
Possessed of Good Morals......
Having a High Sense of Honor and
A Deep Sense of Personal Responsibility
I am proud to call all of you my brothers. It has been my blessing through Gods grace to see the remarkable character that has been shown these last months. I am truely proud of this group of friends.
The pictures are from Dan's investiture. Glen, John, Lee, Dan, Adam, Chip and Rob were present for the ceremony. These pictures are proof that the Jordan Standard is alive and well. It's thriving!

Don't Quit
I ran across this poem today and immediately thought of the incredible strength and grace with which you are handling these excruciating times. In you we see the reflection of our Father. And indeed, one has only to meet your precious children to know what kind of man their father is and why you will not quit fighting. We pray, pleading before the throne for your healing and freedom from pain.
We love you and while we miss you here, you are never far away in our hearts.
Kevin, Brad, Ben & Drew Whitehead
Don't Quit
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When funds are low and debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns.
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt.
And you can never tell how close you are.
It may be near when it seems so far.
So stick to this fight when you're hardest hit -
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Watching the Ole Miss Game October 21st, 2006
Just a shameless way to show off one of my sons (George) who loves Adam and his house.
Adam is one tough cookie. He has amazed me with his fight. He even seems to be feeling better particularly when he has company.
If anyone cares to travel to jackson to see Adam, I can put you up.

Need prayers RIGHT NOW

Adam just called and he is on the way to the Dr. McLeod's office to have a nerve block procedure performed. The procedure is intended to give him additional relief.
He asked that everyone pray for him, his family, the doctors, the nurses and yes even his brother Jim. He told me that he can feel the prayers and it definately affects his day. Adam asked me to relay to everyone that he loves all of you very much and appreciates all the calls letters and visits. Please keep them coming.
This is the prayer that I need all of you to pray,
"Lord Jesus Christ, Good Shepherd of the sheep, you gather the lambs in your arms and carry them in your bosom: We commend to your loving care your child and servant Adam. Relieve his pain, guard him from all danger, restore to him your gifts of gladness and strength, and raise him up to a life of service to you. Hear us, we pray, for your dear Name's sake. Amen."
I will update all of you later.
Peace

Ice Cream Man
The first video out of the party. Sponsored by the Honorable Dan Jordan. Adam at his best. (the audio kinda stinks and probably not the best picture.) But the more I think about it the only time I think that I remember hearing the music clearly was the Joe Walsh night (or morning not really sure).
Keep up the good fight Adam. Everyone is praying hard for you and your family.
Hope you had a nice visit with the kids. (Rebels kinda looked sorta ok Saturday - not bad against UGA)
I have recieved a request for instructions to update the BLOG. Well here you go.

You guys (and girls) ROCK!
You know who you are (and who you're not), but I wanted to let everyone else know that this is an absolutely incredible group of people who have rallied behind our brother and friend, Adam.
John Sumner, Trey Mosley, Brian Byrd and Chase Bryan have gone out of their way to offer me help in any way possible. Thank you, bros! Unfortunately for me, I'm geographically disadvantaged in being able to make regular visits to assist the Trowbridges more than I'd like. That's tough for me due to the fact that I grew up two doors down from the Trowbridges.
Many of you may or may not know this, but the main reason I wanted to go to Ole Miss was because Adam went there. Some of you may have fond memories of witnessing Weathersby pull shards of glass from my hand at the 1983 Independence Bowl after gravity got the best of me. Others may remember my first visit to the Sigma Chi house when I was responsible for transporting Adam's underaged date across state lines for some party. And all those things are Adam's fault!
The reason I bring this all up is because, without Adam, I would have never had the chance to meet you guys/girls. Even though I was only at Ole Miss for three semesters, I was amazed when I saw many of you at Adam's birthday party and how it seemed like it was just like it was 20 years ago. A lot has changed in those 20 years (except for Rickman), but the bond we all have is something I'll always cherish.
Feel free to stop by the Trowbridges for a visit while I'm in Jackson. Call me at 214.674.1198 if you're not too sure if it's a good time for a visit. Hope to see you!

Trowbridge update: Monday, Sept 18, 2006
Adam is in the Hospital again (University). Staff infection has developed in his chemo port. They will be able to control this relatively easy. He should go home on Tuesday.
Tad asked me to let everyone know how important the prayers are at this time. Please pray for Adam to have peace and no more pain. It has been a truly suffering experience for Adam and his family. I need everyone to pray. Pray for Adam’s pain to leave him. Pray for his children, Marshall and Kennan. Pray for his family, Joyce, Tad and Jim. Pray for his doctors and nurses. Pray for Adam.
If you have time, you need to go and visit or send a note. His family needs our support. Please feel free to give me a call.
His address at his parents.

We had a full tank of Gas...........

We had a full tank of gas, a cooler full of caffeine, and an RV full of kids; it should have been a recipe for failure.......
The team was assembled at 9AM in the parking lot of Lowes and we headed north. Our intentions were to bring the Trowbridge family to the first home game. Pickering had arranged for a beautiful RV to bring the group to the game. Tyner had arranged for the box tickets and Russell French put together a great venue for a gathering at the Oliver-Britt House.

Old friendships were being rekindled. The weather was perfect. As Adam was not able to make the trip, we weren't sure if all the plans were going to be worth the effort. But what happened was a true work of God. The boys (Marshall Trowbridge, Rory McCracken, Asher and Harper Pickering, and Will Robertson) are now already planning the next Road Trip. Let's keep it up. Please continue to pray for these miracles. Maybe we can pull off a big one.

Trowbridge in action

Adam, all the other "cool bands" had names like "the Martini Shakers," and the "Pineapple Skinners,"...come on man, if I'd only known Byrd and I could have come up with a great gig name for you!
Fullbong could have played the buckets and Rickman is hell on the spoons, after about four shots of Tequilla. And for the right money (like nothing) we could have goaded Rucker to run naked through the crowd...aka...flaming Polynesian (btw, rickman, you are soooo lucky that you were 'performing "before the advent of digital photography!) for such a special occasion. You got to keep us informed...so we can help. I mean, you can't spend your entire musical career leaching off Herrington and Sam...you know, the 7th and 8th Beatles!
Be good brother...we love you and you know that you're in our thoughts and prayers.

you've got to know them to love them...

Here are some photos that have been saved for the "DIRECTORS CUT"...with comments.
Hey, you've got to know the people that have made up this little coven over the past 20+ years!
BTW: this photo was not out of focus...the subjects were...except for Dan (of course...since he's a judge now).

Poor Sayle, she not only had to put up with all these guys, she had to remember to pace herself as to not drink them under the table. We all have our burdens...

As I explain to Oaks..."no, the madness never stops...so pay up...now."
the Honorable Charles Pickering, esq

Chip has always been a good egg and we're lucky to have him in Washington. And he probably took a calculated risk being seen with the likes of this group,...in the daylight.
Good to see you there, buddy. What ever happened to "Sam the Wonder Dog"?...Sigma Chi mascot, and best lab I've seen, since he was trained to get beer out of a frig.

But you know, Congressman...standing around a keg with the likes of these guys can be hazardous to your career.
